Xe54 Drops Huge Roster Line-Up In Time For Its Inauguration

Words: Sam Howard

There’s nowhere we’d rather be this Saturday night than at the opening launch of Melbourne’s brand new electronic music bunker Xe54. The weekly club on the fringe of the city’s CBD just dropped its extensive line-up for the venue and it’s got as much value as a quality Melbourne summer day festival, except it’s underground, in a basement and with interior design input by arguably the most influential club designers of the country, International Worldwide.

Roar Projects and booker Filippo Palermo have confirmed that the quality of music won’t just be found on the opening night.

“Our intention on the headliner front for the 2017 program is to present an eclectic range of electronic music, however even with the headliners changing, revellers can rest assured that Xe54 will have a consistent flow of disco, house and most importantly, techno every Saturday between both dance floors courtesy of our residents,” said Palermo.

To give techno-heads a taste tester, Carl Craig, a Grammy-nominated composer and a world-class DJ reigning from Detroit will make an appearance soon while Brazil-born DJ ANNA and &ME contribute their extensive international experience to the pre-sticky floors of our new weekly.

Christian Smith, a leading champion of techno from one of the greatest birthplaces of techno producers, Sweden, will be taking over a portion of a night and German born David Mayer will also be bringing his diverse-range of quality sounds to a floor.

Detroit DJ and producer Kevin Saunderson, acknowledged internationally as one of the three innovators of Techno and a significant influencer of dance music plus Lee Foss, who is described by DJ Mag as ‘one of the most talented new forces in modern dance music’ on this day, will be bringing their own eclectic taste of music that will be consumed by hundreds of Melbournians over the nights.

Xe54 will also feature local Aussie producers that consistently represent Melbourne on an international scale, and help build a long-awaited and deserved reputation, which is that this city has an incredibly supportive and great quality culture of electronic dance music that’s growing by the day.

You’ll just need to decide whether to navigate through clashes of sets from quality artists or just immerse yourself in whatever is offered. Either way, you’re guaranteed to have an insanely great time. Hold tight for future acts including Andras, Fantastic Man, Jensen Interceptor, Mike Callander, Paul Lynch, Salvador Darling, Sleep D, Tornado Wallace, Sunshine, Mitchell Gee and more.
