London based Leftroom Records have released over 50 records during the last dozen years showcasing the underground sounds of house, disco and techno. They have released favourites such as Audiojack, Maceo Plex, Jay Haze and Francesca Lombardo.
Top dog and expert selector at Leftroom Records is Matt Tolfrey. He has been called “the last great British DJ” by Seth Troxler, this well earned title has lead to releases not only on his own label but on Visionquest’s sub-label Brachtune, Murmur Records, and No.19 Music to name a few.
His early career began at Nottingham’s The Bomb way back in 2002 as a Uni student before turning to commit his study to house and techno music rather than textbooks. A legend at performing for the crowd and forming his own path for electronic music, he has come a long way since then.
His drive and passion for finding new talent, experimenting style and life of the party attitude has lead to some serious street cred and quickly picking up skills. As well as reading the crowd like a pro, and having an open mind, Tolfrey is well-known for discovering new music as well as highlighting artists. With his own radio programme ‘Don’t Be Leftout’, Tolfrey reviews new releases, shares his favourite mixes and sets, and features interviews revealing an unknown side of artists.
The busy DJ, label head and promoter played London’s fabric in 2015 with his an instalment for Fabric’s Mix compilation series, while celebrating a huge milestone of a decade of Leftroom Records. More recently, he has played at great venues around the world, this year playing at Sankey’s Ibiza infamous Do Not Sleep event. He has also made waves in the UK, Belgium, Spain, the States and Mexico and is now heading down under to give us a taste.
