When two of Melbourne’s best event organisers announced they were joining forces for a new camping festival in the Victorian bush, festival lovers salivated at the prospects of Pitch Music and Arts Festival.

Beyond The Valley and Novel organisers have combined brilliantly, revealing the best line-up of international underground electronic music to hit Australia, along with an array of exceptional local acts.

Ahead of the inaugural Pitch on March 10-14, Autosea has a look at why you should be heading to the edge of the Grampians to enjoy your long weekend.

German selector Dixon is one of the many world-class acts on the Pitch line-up.

An eclectic line-up of international and local acts

Pitch’s ability to put together a forward-thinking line-up is what sets it apart.

German heavyweights Dixon, Âme, Answer Code Request, Ben Klock and Rødhåd are set to give the Funktion-One 32 inch Vero subs a workout, along with Italian techno lord Donato Dozzy.

On the groovier side, Andrés, Omar-S, John Talabot, Detroit Swindle and Adana Twins will be sure to keep your feet moving.

Italian maestro DJ Tennis is another international act to pencil in, with his appearance at Let Them Eat Cake in 2016 a highlight for many.

If the long list of international DJs that have featured in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 isn’t enough, then the diverse range of live performers will whet your appetite.

You would be hard pressed to find a better act to change things up at Pitch than modern Aussie icons Client Liaison.

Complete with 80s-inspired fashion that matches their musical inspiration, the retro lovers from Melbourne are set to add their own blend of synth pop and dance to the bush.

Melbourne’s own Jakubi is another funky outfit on the bill and US indie soul act Toro Y Moi visits Pitch with rave reviews.

On the local DJ front, we recommend checking out groove queen CC:DISCO!, Melbourne producer András and local duo Sleep D.

Retro lovers Client Liaison epitomise the diversity of music on offer.

A beautiful location

Situated about three hours’ drive from Melbourne’s CBD, Pitch organisers have promised a ‘lush location awash with blue gums and golden meadows’, on the edge of the National Heritage-listed Grampians Mountain Range.

The festival site will be decked out with ATMs and EFTPOS machines, a number of bars, delicious gourmet food stalls and market stalls, toilets and showers and a general store for any camping supplies you might forget.

Gates will open at 12pm on Friday March 10, with entertainment starting at 4pm.

Music and entertainment will continue through to Monday March 13 at 7pm, however you can stay the night and leave the next day before 2pm.

The Grampians will provide the perfect backdrop to a smorgasbord of house and techno.

It’s BYO

Every great Australian festival allows you to bring your own alcohol and fortunately, Pitch has obtained a permit for BYO.

Strictly no glass is allowed, so stock up on your favourite tinnies and pour your spirits into plastic bottles in preparation.

Cocktail bars will be located around the festival site and ice will be available at the general store to keep your drinks cool to enjoy at your campsite, stages and throughout the festival.

Incredible stage designs

If the stage designs at Let Them Eat Cake and Beyond The Valley is anything to go by, then we’re in for a treat at Pitch.

Organisers have put together a world-class crew to create the festival’s stages, led by stage designer Dave Dinger and head lighting designer Florian Walther, who are the founders of Berlin’s famous Bachstelzen collective.

After building a stage for the 20^th anniversary of Germany’s Fusion Festival, along with stage designs at Let Them Eat Cake, Bar 25, Garbicz and KaterHolzig, the pair is sure to impress with their concepts at Pitch.

Pitch will also be the first festival in the Southern Hemisphere to use the Funktion-One 32 inch Vero subs, providing crisp sound for festival goers to enjoy.

Organisers have promised the stage designs will be next level.
